Nederlandse Spoorwegen
NS used Frutiger as it’s main font up until 2014 when it was replaced with NS Sans. font strongly inspired by the Frutiger font.
Way-finding
As it was intended, Frutiger is used a lot in way-finding. It’s still used at Schiphol Airport and Paris CDG
Due to it's great legibility, Frutiger is also often used on pharmaceuticals. On the package as well as the Insert.
Medication
Besides being used for regular way-finding, Frutiger is also used for road signage. e.x. it's the main font used for Swiss road signage

I've worked at the airport for about 5 years and while i have a lot of things to say about Schiphol. Their signage has always been great and a great design system that set the standard for a lot of airports around the world.
It was really interesting to me when i found out that the font used was also Frutiger! A fun fact that motivated me to continue having Frutiger as the typeface for this project.
Why frutiger
I <3 Public Transport
I am a big fan of public transport. Besides doing several projects regarding it already during CMD. I've also wrote several essay's about it during High School. Even more specifically i love train design. Something about the exterior and interior design it is really intriguing to me.
This project started when i started focusing on systems and wayfinding within several Public Transport related contexts. While taking my 30 pictures i started realising that the fonts in most pictures were resembling each other and that is how i've discovered Frutiger.
